SPP COVID-19 Response Update - April 2, 2020
Southwest Power Pool continues to adapt along with the changing circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we’ve shared previously, we have taken a number of steps to mitigate the risks of introducing or spreading the virus among our staff. To date, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among our employees, though should that change, we stand ready with a number of contingency plans to respond quickly and ensure our continuous operation.
Our system remains reliable with sufficient capacity to serve load. With the exception of a shift in the timing of our regular morning peak – thanks to modified routines as more people work from home rather than in an office – load patterns for our region remain predictable, and peaks are consistent with prior years with similar weather patterns.
We’re now gearing up for our quarterly meeting cycle and have been testing and configuring our WebEx platform to accommodate large meetings of the Markets and Operations Policy Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Regional State Committee and Board of Directors and Members Committee later this month. As with all of our other meetings, these will be conducted virtually.
Remember that you can review the actions we have taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic at www.spp.org/covid-19. For any questions not answered there, you may contact your customer relations representative or email communication@spp.org.
Thanks for the continued trust you place in Southwest Power Pool.
