Reliability Training

The SPP Reliability training program encompasses continuing education and ongoing training for tasks not performed frequently but with high criticality for operations (e.g., emergency operations training). Additionally, core concepts and processes are facilitated, increasing organizational and operational effectiveness while supporting a culture of reliability, compliance and excellence.

The goal for all levels of training is creating confident and knowledgeable operating personnel. Delivery formats include instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, as well as self-paced e-learning. Reliability training efforts focus on four primary areas:

  • Operating Competency – The knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to perform job duties.
  • Operating Processes and Procedures - Understanding the impact and relevance of SPP Criteria/Protocols, compliance policies and procedures required to operate in an interconnected power grid and SPP markets.
  • NERC Standards – Understanding the impact of current and future NERC standards upon SPP and our stakeholders.
  •  Industry Changes – Evolution within the footprint is commonplace – ensuring SPP and our stakeholders are knowledgeable, skillful and confident with these changes is imperative.
